As the annual Victoria's Secret Fashion Show is set to premiere this evening on CBS, we cannot help but wonder how these "Angels" get ready for their big day.
We have the dish on Adriana Lima's preshow diet and fitness rituals as well as her favorite diet plan throughout the year!
Adriana is a huge fan of the high protein/low carb Paleo style diet.
She states, “Being an Angel, you’re in shape all year long, but before the show, you amp it up a lot. I start about two months ahead, so I can get in top shape healthily and steadily and have time to feel good. The big thing I cut out is wine. and then a week before the show, I stop salty foods.”
Adriana Lima's nutritionist Dr. Charles Passler revealed: "If it looks like it came from nature it is fine. No processed foods including breads and pasta."
It has also been revealed that her nutritionist prescribes protein shakes, vitamins and supplements to keep Lima's energy levels up during this training period. Lima drinks a gallon of water a day.
For nine days before the show she will drink only protein shakes - "no solids". The concoctions include powdered egg. Two days before the show she will abstain from the gallon of water a day, and "just drink normally". Then, 12 hours before the show she will stop drinking entirely.
"No liquids at all so you dry out, sometimes you can lose up to eight pounds just from that," she says.... Yikes!
As for the workouts? She focuses on lots of HIIT style exercises such as jump roping and even a little boxing.
